Club Career
Barcelona
Lamine Yamal started his football career at Barcelona’s La Masia academy at the tender of five in 2012 and has been a major contribution to the club’s youth sides ever since then.
In early September 2022, Yamal was selected by Xavi to train with the first team despite being just 15 years of age.
Although Lamine Yamal doesn’t yet have a professional contract with Barcelona, many football fans think he has the potential to be the next Messi at the club.
Yamal was part of the team that won the 2022/2023 La Liga. He made his first-team debut after replacing Gavi in the 83rd minute in a 4–0 win against Real Betis on 29 April 2023.
International Career
Although Yamal is still a very young player, he has played for Spain’s under-16s, under-15s, and under-17s in the UEFA European U-17 Championship 2023.
Since Yamal is born to African parents from Morocco and Equitorial Guinea, this makes him eligible to play for either country at international tournaments.
Lamine Yamal Parents
Both of Yamal’s parents are Africans from different countries. He doesn’t post much about his family, but fans are still curious to know who they are.
In the past, Yamal has shared a photo that featured a large group who are presumably his family.
A much older picture has revealed Yamal with two other people which leaves fans speculating that the footballer may have a younger brother.
Playing style
Yamal has been gifted with a strong left foot that has greatly improved his dribbling, passing, and goal-scoring abilities.
He can also play both as a centre-forward or an attacking midfielder on the right flank just like Messi. This has earned him the nickname “Mini Messi”.
