Club Career
Mujer Trabajadora
He started his football career at the Mujer Trabajadora soccer school between the ages of 5 and 12. He join the soccer school in 2007 with the help of coach Ivan Guerra and stayed until 2014.
Caicedo started out Initially as a forward before he later developed into a midfielder.
Colorados Jaipadida
He later joined the local side Colorados Jaipadida in 2015 at the age of 13.
Jaipadida was an affiliate of the professional club ESPOLI. Caicedo was later invited to train with ESPOLI after his impressive performance at Jaipadida.
Independiente del Valle
He started his junior career at Ecuadorian Serie A side Independiente del Valle in 2016 and went on to captain the youth team to the Copa Mitad del Mundo title tournament in Spain.
Caicedo made his debut for the Independiente del Valle first team in 2019 and played there until 2021.
Brighton & Hove Albion
Caicedo joined premier league side Brighton & Hove Albion on a four and a half year deal on 1 February 2021.
Beerschot (loan)
He went on a season-long loan to Beerschot in August 2021 and was recalled back to Brighton on 12 January 2022, due to shortages of central midfielders.
Chelsea
Caicedo was signed on an eight-year contract by Chelsea on 14 August 2023. The fee was officially undisclosed, but it was later reported to be worth £100 million, plus £15 million in performance related add-ons.
International Career
Caicedo plays for the Ecuador national team. He made his debut for the team in a 1–0 loss to Argentina in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
He later went on to score the opening goal in a 4–2 home win over Uruguay at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado.
Caicedo was named in Ecuador’s 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and also scored an equalizer for the team during their match against Senegal.
