Robert Lewandowski And Poland Eliminated From The World Cup

Poland was up against France in the round of 16 fixture today. Heading into the game, France were seen as likely winners looking at their performance at the World Cup so far. Poland, on the other hand, was hoping for a possible win against the World Cup holders.

It wasn’t even a close game, as France had Poland in all areas. Poland failed to launch any real attack and couldn’t get behind France’s defense with ease. The one thing France was good at was creating chances to score, and of course they capitalized on most of the big chances to score.

France took the lead in the opening minutes of the first half after Olivier Giroud scored a brilliant goal from Kylian Mbappe’s assist. It was a well-built goal from France and a well-deserved lead as well, as they started well in the opening minutes of the match. Olivier Giroud became France’s all-time goal scorer, surpassing Thierry Henry. It was his third goal at the ongoing World Cup.

Kylian Mbappe extended France’s lead to 2-0 after he scored a brilliant goal from Ousmane Dembele’s assist. Kylian Mbappe, who set up Olivier Giroud for the opening goal, got a goal for himself, and it was his fourth goal of the tournament. Kylian Mbappe made it his fifth World Cup goal after he scored France’s third from Marcus Thuram’s assist. Kylian Mbappe single-handedly made it difficult for Poland’s defenders as he was directly involved in all three goals.

Poland eventually pulled one back in the final minutes of the match after Robert Lewandowski scored from the penalty spot. It was already too late for a comeback, as France already got the win. Robert Lewandowski scored his second goal at the World Cup as Poland got eliminated. France got through to the next stage of the competition and will face either England or Senegal in the quarterfinal.
